Goals Met: Forums and More

You’ll notice a new link at the top of the sidebar pointing you to the Sandbox Forums. Please be kind, as this is my first attempt at the forum thing. But still, it’s up and running and hopefully it’ll be useful for all the participants. I appreciate the feedback that a forum could be a useful place to discuss the comp and hash-out ideas. Go for it.

Now, the most interesting news. On Saturday, the day after this competition official began, I opened my email to find that my goal to raise another US$500 had been met, raising the total for cash awards to US$1000. This generous donation came from Matt.

Full disclosure: I met Matt briefly when he came to New York in April of 2007. We sat at opposite ends of a oddly long table while I drank one beer before I had to leave. I then spoke with him briefly (not regarding this comp). He complimented my typography. And that’s about it.

So now the total for awards stands at US$1000. That’s US$500 for first place, US$300 for second, and US$200 for third. We’re still accepting sponsorships, especially so we can widen the awards (primarily for honorariums). Check out how sponsors get highlighted and how to sponsor for more on that.

Things are shaping up nicely. A big initial thanks to Matt.

Yes, I think it’s going to be a great comp. Especially given that the Sandbox is so extensible, so easy and powerful to design for.

Hopefully we will get some good themes — maybe one of yours? ;-)

I am sort of undecided .. I don’t believe in producing mediocre Designs just for the sake of participating. I have a few ideas but first I need to play with sandbox for sometime.

I’m still not sure I’m going to be able to participate, but I AM sure that this is going to be a GREAT competition. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Sounds like this will be a great competition. I’ll be looking forward to seeing the designs (and entering myself, if time permits).
